Ancient Banyan Trees and the rich History that is the Mauna Kea Hotel. A Rockefeller Resort, built in the early 1960's was the first of it's kind on the island. A masterpiece of beauty and luxury for the discerning guest. Setting the bar at new heights, this resort was and is still a big part of my own history. As a pre-teen, I would ride to work with my mom and play at Kaunaoa bay all day while she "worked" in the tennis shop. We were on a first name basis with the repeat guests who made teh Mauna Kea their destination each summer and winter...It felt like home.
